Type species: Acanthaphodius bruchi Schmidt, 1909 by monotypy.

Diagnosis: Size small, length 3–4 mm. Color with distinct light orange and dark brown color pattern. Head lacking tubercles. Apical protibial tooth anteriorly pointing. Metatibia with apical spurs separated by metatarsus. Males have a large, finger-like projection on the back margin of each metafemur.
