The Dot-winged Baskettail (subgenus Tetragoneuria) is brown with yellow spots along the side of the relatively slender abdomen. Some individuals have a distinct row of brown spots on the leading edge of the hindwings, making identification less difficult. However, in other individuals, the spots may be less prominent or entirely absent. It is very similar to our other Tetragoneuria baskettails (Common and Spiny).

Fairly common. This is a Midwestern species extending from Texas intosouthern Nebraska. All records are in the western one-third of thestate and not in the northern counties there. Habitat and behaviorare like Common Baskettail.
