Nomenclature: On the correct spelling of L. v-nigrum. ICZN Article 32.5.2.4.3: If the first element is a Latin letter used to denote descriptively a character of the taxon, it must be retained and connected to the remainder of the name by a hyphen. ICZN Article 34.2.1. If a species-group name is a noun in apposition its ending need not agree in gender with the generic name with which it is combined and must not be changed to agree in gender with the generic name. In this case, "v-nigrum" is a gender neutral noun meaning "black v".
