Distribution: Southern Brazil: Sao Paulo, Santa Catarina, Paraná.
Grossi, P.C. 2009. Description of two new species of Leptinopterus Hope (Coleoptera: Lucanidae: Lucaninae) with notes on the taxonomy and natural history of the genus. Zootaxa: 2172: 32-44.
Remarks: Grossi (2009) indicated that the holotype of L. gracilis is conspecific with the species that had been considered L. elegans by authors, and the holotype of that species must be examined to resolve the suspected synonymy.
