Distribution:

Fairmaire's flightless stag beetle is endemic to central Chile, with two subspecies separated by the Bío-bío River.

Nomenclature:

The correct original spelling of the name is "fairmairii". Although the species was named for Léon Fairmaire, it may have been Parry's intent to latinize his name to Fairmairius, and therefore E. fairmairii is the valid name according to the ICZN.
