Remarks:

|
Weinreich (1960) misapplied this name to a species of Pycnosiphorus. The true S. varasi is a seldom encountered species known from relatively few specimens. This species probably lives in standing dead wood, and it is only rarely found in fallen branches. Most specimens appear to have been found lying dead on the ground.
