Remarks:

|
Brasilucanus species are hypothesized to live in ant or termite nests due to the extreme reduction in some structures (especially tarsi), and the greatly flattened and expanded legs that allow these beetles to become compacted (Ratcliffe 1984). They are best collected with flight intercept traps.
