Outside the study region, this species has been recorded from Paraguay and Argentina (Santiago del
Estero, Córdoba, Mendoza) (Bruch 1911, Martínez 1952). We also examined specimens in the HAHC from
Argentina: Formosa, Salta, San Luis. |

Diagnosis: Length 4–5 mm. The flattened, setose elytral intervals distinguish this species from
others in the genus. |

Remarks: Martínez (1952) reports B. ovalipennis to have been collected in association with ants
(Acromyrmex sp.). Most known specimens have been collected at light. |
