Type species. Euparixia duncani Brown 1927: 288, by monotypy.

 
Diagnosis. Body length 4.4-5.8 mm, elongate, appears constricted at middle, dark reddish-brown. Head smooth. Clypeus rounded or angulate each side of median emargination, never finely serrate. Pronotum broad, sides explanate, lateral edge finely serrate only near base, lateral margin usually deeply emarginate at base and lacking distinct fringe of setae; posterior angles apparently missing in most. Elytra inflexed laterally; striae strongly punctured; intervals often carinuilate. Mesocoxae widely separated, parallel, flattened, touching elytra near base. Meso- and metatibia with 2 terminal spurs. Meso- and metatarsi slender, elongate.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Distribution. Southern US to Panama, Cuba, Bolivia.

Life History. Where known, members of Euparixia are assoicated with leaf cutter ant nests (Atta spp.) (Stebnicka 2007), living in the fungal gardens (Woodruff and Cartwright 1967, Hinton 1936). They are occasionally collected at light or in flight intercept traps.
