Although born and educated in Canada, Ross Storey lived and worked for about 39 years in Queensland, Australia. He had a long interest in Scarabaeidae, especially the Scarabaeinae and Aphodiinae where he has described genera (4) and species (67) and proposed one aphodiine tribe (Stereomerini) with Henry Howden. Ross was curator and collection manager of the Queensland Department of Primary Industries & Fisheries insect collection in Mareeba for the last 34 years. He passed away at age of 58 after many years of debilitating illness, which he bore heroically. He was the Queensland Government taxonomic entomologist for the Queensland tropics for the last 30 years or so, but he never lost his Canadian accent. |
