Dr. Dechambre was a specialist of the Dynastinae of the world, and he published many papers on this group. He maintained a very large, extremely well-curated collection of Dynastinae, which is among the most taxonomically complete in the world. He retired from his position as a Coleoptera curator at the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris but continued his scarab research for many years after that.
