Paschoal C. Grossi is at the Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (UFRPE), Recife, Brazil were he is conducting his Scarabaeoidea research. He is advising many undergraduate and graduate students on the superfamily, mainly in Lucanidae and pleurosticti scarab beetles with revisions and descriptions of several new genera and species from the Neotropical region. His special interest is the taxonomy, systematics, distribution, and ecology of Neotropical Lucanidae, Melolonthinae, Rutelinae, and Dynastinae. Paschoal worked on a morphological phylogeny of Sclerostomini, including all the South American genera, and is now concerned with addressing the suprageneric classification of world Lucanidae based on morphological characters. He is also working on a key for the South America lucanid genera. He has a great interest in exchanging Scarabaeoidea of the world to increase the collection at the University and to become a reference center of Scarabaeoidea in northeastern Brazil |
