Leon Fairmaire

Fairmaire was an Honorary President of the Societe Entomologique de France, having joined that society in 1842, a full 60 years before. His first paper was published in the Annales in 1843, and his last paper was published in 1905 ("Description des coleopteres heteromeres de la Republique Argentine"). Most of his papers were devoted to descriptions of Coleoptera, although he was also known for his knowledge of Hymenoptera and Hemiptera.
