José R. Verdú is an Associate
Lecturer (Animal Biology) at the University of Alicante (Spain).
He is a specialist in the larval morphology of scarab beetles
(emphasizing their usefulness in taxonomy and phylogeny), biology,
ecology, and biogeography (emphasizing distribution and endemicity
in the Iberian Peninsula). His research interest are in the
biological and ecological process (adaptation phenomena) of
dung beetles in arid and semiarid environments, the ecological
measures of biodiversity, and studies of the threatened arthropods
in Spain (Inventory of species included in "Habitat Directive"
from Spain, the National Catalogue of Threatened Species, etc.).
