József Sár

József Sár X

József Sár was born in 1960 in Pécs, Hungary. In 1977 he gained employment in the Janus Pannonius Museum's natural history department in Pécs. He joined the Hungarian Entomological Society in 1988 and a year later became a researcher-preparator in the Janus Pannonius Museum. During the following years – until 2003 – he participated in the museum's research programmes and curated its insect collections. His entomological activities are depicted in 18 faunistic papers published in this period. Since 2005 he has managed the Insect House of
Kétújfalu (a small village in southern Hungary). József has travelled all over Hungary with an entomological exhbition entitled From the Drava to the Amazon, consisting mainly of European and South American Scarabaeoidea specimens. His main interest in coleopterology are the saproxylic scarabs. He also conducted several beetle-study trips abroad: 1991 Corfu (Greece), 1992 Corsica (France), 1993,1997 and 2008 Brazil. József's preferred language is Hungarian.
