Jean Baptiste Antoine
Dechauffour de Boisduval

Boisduval was French naturalist and physician and one of the most celebrated lepidopterists of France. He received his medical degree in 1828. He was the co-founder of the Societe Entomologique de France. Earlier in his career, he was interested in Coleoptera and allied himself with both Lacordaire and Latreille. He was the curator of the Dejean collection in Paris and even though he is known mostly for his work with Lepidoptera, we know him for describing new species of scarabs as well, especially those resulting from the voyages of the "Astrolabe" and the "Coquille."
