Frank Hovore in his lab.

Frank T. Hovore passed away unexpectedly in September 2006 from a heart attack while collecting in Ecuador. He passed away doing one of the things he loved best: collecting beetles in the tropics. He was known as the preeminent Pleocoma (rain beetle) specialist in the world. His Coleoptera research interests were the ecology, taxonomic diversity, and distribution of Cerambycidae, with recent study and survey emphasis upon the faunas of Central (Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama) and South America (French Guiana, Ecuador), and the biology, ecology, and systematics of the genus  Pleocoma (Pleocomidae).  Good bye and good hunting, Frank.
