Clarke
Scholtz is a Professor in the Department of Entomology at the
University of Pretoria. His research interests in scarabs are
broad. He published a world catalog of the family Trogidae (1982)
as well as revisions of trogids in Africa and Australia, is
currently involved with morphological and molecular studies
to answer questions about phylogenetic trends in the Scarabaeoidea,
and mentors a number of students interested in various aspects
of scarab biology, morphology, and taxonomy. He has published
numerous papers on Trogidae, Scarabaeinae, Ochodaeidae, and
Geotrupinae, and scarabaeoid relationships.
