Chris is a data manager at CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research in Brisbane, Australia and works on projects that deal with marine ecology, fisheries, and water quality monitoring. His passion for the flower chafers was sparked in his childhood in the halls of the Congo Museum (as it was known in the 1970s) in Tervuren, Belgium and has not left him since. He spent much time in the U.S., Austria, and Switzerland but moved himself and his family to Australia when it became clear that the discovery of undescribed species in aforementioned places is a rare event. Chris’ studies of the cetoniines of Australia are supported by CSIRO but are privately motivated and funded which provides him with the freedom to work on species of little economic importance. Current projects are the flower chafer chapter in Australian Beetles Volume 2, Australian cetoniine genetics (a collaboration with the Australian Museum), and revisions of Pseudoclithria, Diaphonia and Bisallardiana.
