Dr. Li has broad interests in various aspects of scarab beetles. His systematics research is based on his extensive collections of Taiwanese scarabs (where over 500 species have been recorded) and related taxa from the eastern Palearctic and Oriental Regions. He is currently investigating the endophallic sclerites (other than parameres) in male genitalia of scarabs in order to utilize them in taxonomy and phylogenetic analyses. Additionally, he is also interested in conservation of saproxylic beetles and their ecological role in forest management.
