Luz Maria Del Carmen Huerta

Dr. Huerta works at the Instituto de Ecología, Xalapa, Veracruz, México.   Since 1975 she has conducted research on the ecology and reproductive behavior of dung and carrion beetles. She is also interested in the  subsocial behavior in Scarabaeinae and Nicrophorus species.  In 1998 she was awarded the National Prize in Entomology  "Ricardo Coronado Padilla" for her doctoral dissertation,  and in 2001 she was honored with an Award of Appreciation from the Department of Sericulture and Entomology, NIAST, Republic of Korea, in recognition of outstanding performance and support in completing the dung beetles study of the Barin - Pool Project in that country. Her most recent publications concern reproductive physiology, mainly in Copris species.
