On Saturday, our last day, we went to the Los Tuxtlas Biological Station about an hour away by bus. This is a protected area of lowland tropical rain forest near the shores of the lake. After an orientation about the reserve by the station staff, we viewed their small insect collection and mini-museum. This was followed by several forest walks or collecting in a nearby cow pasture and then lunch at the comedor. We left the station at mid-afternoon.
