Synopsis: Paucar-Cabrera, A. 2003. Systematics and phylogeny of
the genus Epectinaspis Blanchard (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae:
Rutelinae) and description of a new genus of Anomalini from Mexico.

Etymology: the genus epithet, "Balanogonia," is Greek for apex of
the penis (balano) and for angle (gonia), and refers to the fact that
the male specimens have the parameres perpendicular in relation to
the phallobase formin an angle with it, and to the fact that the parameres
in lateral view have a subrtriangular shape (Paucar-Cabrera, 2003). |
