Distribution: Eastern United States: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin.

Remarks: Part of the P. fraterna complex; similar in form to P. forsteri, P. hirticula, P. foxii, P. paternoi.  Small (15-18mm), brown, glabrous. Specimens of P. fraterna can be difficult to identify due to high levels of shape variation observed in the male and female genitalic structures throughout its distribution.

Biological data: P. fraterna has a three-year life cycle in northern states, and a potentially truncated two-year life cycle in southern states.

Temporal distribution: Adult emergence begins as early as March and April in southern states and May in northern states extending into the latter part of July.
