Diagnosis. Body length 3.8-4.6 mm, elongate, robust, psammodiine-like, orange-brown. Head surface rugose. Clypeal margin toothed. Pronotum with basal marginal line. Scutellum triangular. Metatibial apical spinules short, equal in length. |

|
Distribution. Palearctic, Oriental, Afrotropical (?), western North America. |
|
|
Composition. Worldwide, Mendidius contains approximately 40 species, one of which occur in the New World.

Life History. A few recent collections have been at light. |

Larvae. Unknown. |
|
Status of Classification. Except for the short, equal metatibial spinules, M. aculeatus appears similar to members of Xeropsamobeus. |
