Natural history: Specimens of Cryptogenius species
were collected under bark and in leaf litter. Krikken (1975) found a
large amount of fungal material, including hyphomycetes, in the alimentary
tract of adult Cryptogenius specimens. This confirmis
the function of mycangium on the ventral side of the mandibular mola.
