Teruo Ochi is a specialist in the taxonomy of dung beetles, especially those of the Oriental Region and Japan. He also studies the taxonomy of Japanese Ceratocanthidae. Collaborating with other authors, he is currently preparing the book, "The Dung Beetles of Japan," which will be a comprehensive review of the Japanese dung beetles.
