Although Mont Cazier devoted
a life time of work towards the study of tiger beetles, he was
an expert on the systematics and biodiversity of Coleoptera
in general as well as wasps and flies. He published 61 papers,
and a number of those concerned scarabs. He had a considerable
depth of knowledge of the insects and arachnids inhabiting southwestern
North America, knowledge he acquired from constant field work.
He became a curator at the American Museum of Natural History
in New York in 1941, and he retired from there in 1962. He then
joined the the faculty in the Zoology Department of Arizona
State University where he was considered irascible as well as
an expert teacher. He retired from ASU in 1982 when he was 70
years old.
