German Amat Garcia
  

German Amat Garcia was an associate professor and Coleoptera curator at the National Natural Sciences Institute at the National University of Colombia. He studied the taxonomy, systematics, and biogeography of passalid beetles (Passalidae) as well as the ecology and taxonomy of Scarabaeoidea. He collaborated with Dr Pedro Reyes-Castillo (Instituto de Ecologia, Xalapa, Mexico) conducting research on the passalid beetles of the Colombian Andes and Amazonian region. He published five book chapters, more than 50 scientific articles, co-edited the Insectos de Colombia books series (volumes I, II, III), and was the author of three text books about general entomology, insect rearing, and entomological diversity of the Bogotá plain in Colombia
