Dave is retired from California State Service but is continuing to work as a Retired Annuitant for the CA Dept. of Water Resources on strategies for long-term management of vegetation on the Central Valley’s flood control levees.  Dave has broad interests in the biosystematics, biodiversity, taxonomy, and biology of Scarabaeoidea.  His graduate work included taxonomic studies on the Ochodaeidae (M.S. thesis) and a taxonomic revision and studies on the biology of Lichnanthe (Glaphyridae) (Ph.D. dissertation).  His research interests with these groups continue.  Dave’s field activities have focused on the New World tropics with field work in Honduras, Panama, French Guiana and Ecuador.  Future field activities will focus more on the scarab fauna of California and the western United States.
