Bernard Benesh was born in Graben,
Austria (now Slovakia) on 17 August 1891 and died in Burrville,
Tennesee (USA) on 17 September 1964. He arrived in the
U.S. in 1909 and lived in Chicago where he worked in a steel
mill. He retired for health reasons and moved to Burrville,
Tennessee where he lived in a relatively primitive cabin until
his death. He studied Lucanidae and collaborated with the Field
Museum of Natural History in Chicago. He published numerous
papers between 1932 and 1960.
