Andres Ramirez is a researcher currently undertaking a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Biology of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. His current research deals with the search for a natural supraspecific classification of the tribe Anomalini (Rutelinae) in the New World with the integration of different kinds of data.

His area of study focuses on aspects of evolution, biodiversity, taxonomy, natural history, conservation, phylogeny, and historical biogeography using Neotropical scarab beetles, mainly those of the tribe Anomalini. He is also interested in implementing methods and techniques to try to tackle and resolve questions of phylogenetic inference, historical biogeography, and geometric morphometry in a scheme of integrative taxonomy.

He is also interested in the history of science, epistemology, evo-devo, and scientific illustration.
