  Alfonsina Arriaga Jiménez currently works as a postdoctoral fellow at the Instituto de Ecología (INECOL) in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico. She completed her Ph. D. in Montpellier, France under the direction of Jean-Pierre Lumaret and Gonzalo Halffter. Her research involves ecology, biogeography, and biology of Scarabaeinae, Geotrupinae and Aphodiinae. Alfonsina is also interested in the systematics, taxonomy, behavior, and conservation of dung and mycetophagous beetles. Other projects she is working on include chemical ecology and behavior of insects and the study of phoretic mites founded on dung beetles. Her actual research is with dung beetles that inhabit some high mountains in México, with emphasis on Geotrupinae.
